Gangtok: A massive landslide buried the Melli-Jorethang road in Sikkim on July 9. Boulders, mud, and debris slammed onto the pavement. Traffic stopped dead. The storm hit hard.

Authorities sent an excavator to the scene immediately. Crews are hacking through the mess now. They hope to clear the route quickly, but the monsoon weather remains a threat. Officials said: "Authorities have urged residents and travellers to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and avoid landslide-prone areas as the monsoon continues."

Rain keeps falling across the region. More roads could go down. Stick to the official updates. Do not take unnecessary risks until the crews clear the path.
