Shillong: The Khasi Students’ Union shut down Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today. Tynsong tried to link an August 19 rally to recent claims of illegal money collection by police. The union insists these issues stay separate. The two topics have zero overlap.
KSU information and publicity secretary Pynshai Kupar M Dkhar responded on October 8 to comments Tynsong made on October 6. Dkhar stated the rally focused on the rights and welfare of indigenous people. The union claims the government is trying to blur the lines to hide police misconduct under the Home Department.
The KSU demands a full investigation. They want to know who authorized the collections, who took the money, and what legal steps the government has taken so far. Accountability matters. If the Home Department cannot manage its own personnel, the union argues that Tynsong should resign as Home Minister.
The group dismissed the Deputy Chief Minister's tactics as "political gymnastics" meant to draw heat away from the extortion claims. They warned the government to stop the diversions. Address the corruption instead of picking fights with student protestors.
