KSU Demands Answers on Temple Construction at Shillong CBI Office

Shillong: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle is challenging the legality of a temple construction inside the CBI office complex at Mawdiangdiang. On Tuesday, the group submitted a formal representation to Urban Affairs director P.K. Boro.

Assistant general secretary Celestine Rynghang wants to know if the building project violates the existing land agreement. The union claims the agreement limits development at the site to residential and office use only. They are also demanding to know if the local Dorbar Shnong granted approval for the work.

Rynghang claims Boro promised to inspect the site during a meeting on August 11. No report on those actions has reached the union yet. The group stated, "The union wants to know whether the construction is permitted under the land agreement."

The KSU circle raised alarms regarding police summons issued to their leaders while the building dispute remains active. They are pushing for an immediate, thorough inquiry. If the government ignores these concerns, the union plans to take stronger, lawful steps to halt the project.
