Kohima Officials Order Immediate PHED Action Plan for Gram Panchayat Development

Kohima: Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem chaired a District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting on August 6, 2026, at his Kohima office. The session focused on meeting 16th Finance Commission requirements. Officials want results. They directed the Public Health Engineering Department to draft village-wise action plans for the Gram Panchayat Development Plan.

PHED must hand its village lists to the Rural Development Department for immediate portal uploading. The process demands strict adherence to timelines. Coordination is not optional. Every line department must stay involved to ensure the work gets done correctly.

"The selection of GPDP projects, it was noted, should be based on the needs of rural communities and aimed at providing maximum benefit to the people."

The administration demanded full cooperation between agencies. Future meetings will clear bottlenecks for implementation. Buchem expects the PHED to finalize the plan without delay.
