Kohima: Kiphire’s District Congress Committee wants the Public Works Department to fix Pungro town’s roads right now. The infrastructure is failing. Officials sent a formal request to the Executive Engineer of the PWD, citing severe damage that creates constant misery for local motorists and pedestrians.
The monsoon season turned these streets into a muddy mess of deep water and jagged holes. It is a nightmare for commuters. Schoolchildren struggle to reach class safely through the sludge, and emergency vehicles cannot move freely through the gridlock. The committee stated the situation is unacceptable, noting that the roads have developed "numerous potholes and damaged stretches" that force drivers to take risks.
Public safety is hanging by a thread. The party expects the department to stop stalling and start working to clear the hazards before a serious accident occurs.
