Gangtok: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police has launched a five-day cultural orientation program at the 13th Battalion headquarters in Sikkim. This initiative aims to help troops gain a deeper understanding of the local heritage, traditions, and language of the Himalayan state.

Deputy Inspector General Sanjeev Kumar Singh of the ITBP Sector Headquarters in Gangtok attended the opening session on Monday. The program includes 40 participants drawn from the 11th, 13th, 48th, and 63rd Battalions.

Experts from the Department of Culture within the Government of Sikkim are leading the sessions. Through this training, the ITBP seeks to ensure that deployed personnel can engage effectively with local communities while showing proper respect for the region's cultural landscape.
