Imphal: Imphal West will become the first district in Manipur to offer fully integrated e-treatment services. Director of Health Services Nongthombam Hemantakumar Singh broke the news on Tuesday, August 4. He spoke at the second Foundation Day celebration of BABINA Hospital in Khabeisoi, Imphal East.
The initiative ties into the Ayushman Bharat Health Account framework. It promises seamless digital health records across all government hospitals in the district. Hemantakumar noted that artificial intelligence and robotics could soon change how doctors treat patients. He kept a firm stance on the role of staff. "Technology cannot replace trained medical professionals," he said.
The state wants to bridge the gap between public and private care. Hemantakumar explained that public facilities often struggle with heavy patient loads and limited resources. Private institutions help pick up the slack. The government is currently empaneling more private hospitals to assist low-income residents under insurance programs.
Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh, head of the BABINA Group, reflected on the hospital's growth. He noted the facility was conceptualized in 2022 and opened in 2024. The main goal remains stopping the flow of patients traveling out of state for care. This move aims to save families from financial and emotional strain. The hospital plans to keep pushing for affordable, patient-centric services in the years ahead.
