HYC slams Health Minister for inaction on Byrnihat pollution

Shillong: The Hynniewtrep Youths’ Council blasted Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla for his handling of the pollution crisis in Byrnihat. The group claims the government is ignoring the dangerous reality of toxic air in the region. They refuse to accept the Minister's excuse that no formal complaints exist as a reason for inaction.

Byrnihat has suffered from industrial fallout for years. The HYC blasted the government's dismissive stance on Thursday, noting that the Minister's remark "reflects a lack of concern for public safety."

The council wants results. They are questioning why the Health department has failed to run an independent study on the health of locals. Factories are breaking the rules. The HYC expects the government to step up and crack down on those violating environmental standards immediately.
