Shillong: The Hynniewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) slammed Meghalaya Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Thursday. They ripped his response to the toxic air and industrial runoff choking Byrnihat. The minister claimed the state received no formal complaints about the local ethanol plant. The HYC called this stance casual and irresponsible.

Industrial waste has plagued the belt for years. The council argued the government knows the truth. Officials should not wait for paperwork to act on public health crises. The group labeled the minister's logic a failure. "Government cannot hide behind procedural technicalities," the HYC stated.

The council demands immediate state intervention. They want tough action against factories breaking environmental laws. Factories continue to spew emissions into the neighborhood. People are sick of the delay. The HYC warned of further action if the government keeps ignoring the smog. They want clean air now.
