Husband and In-Laws Flee After Fatal Attack on West Garo Hills Woman

Shillong: A woman died Tuesday night following a brutal assault inside her home in Bhangarpar village. Salema Khatun suffered fatal injuries after she was beaten by her husband, Saddam Hussain, and his parents. The suspects fled the scene immediately after leaving the victim at an Assam hospital.

Police arrived to find only the victim's sister-in-law at the house. Officers took her into custody for questioning. The victim's brother, Chandmamuth Sk, filed an FIR on Wednesday morning at the Bogulurbhita OP. He claims the family repeatedly beat Salema while demanding cash from her parents.

The suspects took the injured woman to an Assam hospital before abandoning her. They vanished before her family could arrive. Her grieving brother stated, "Salema was often tortured and beaten by her husband, who frequently asked her parents for money." Investigators are currently searching for the three fugitives. The case remains active.
