Heavy Rain and Storms Forecast for Meghalaya

Shillong: Meghalaya faces a soaking week. The India Meteorological Department expects widespread rain across the state for the next five days. Forecasters predict moderate showers at most locations with heavy downpours and lightning strikes hitting isolated areas.

The wet spell starts Wednesday and maintains a steady rhythm through Saturday. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati warns of consistent thunderstorm activity alongside the persistent rain. Residents should expect little relief from the moisture, though the IMD noted that no major change in maximum temperatures is expected during the forecast period.

The weather office reported that "moderate rain is very likely at most places across Meghalaya" throughout the week. Officials maintain a weather alert as the state prepares for five straight days of heavy rainfall and unstable conditions.
