FKJGP slams Mawsynram officials for skipping work

Shillong: FKJGP members raided government offices in Mawsynram on Tuesday. They found empty desks and closed doors. The surprise inspection followed a wave of complaints from locals fed up with the lack of service. General secretary Entrust Snaitang confirmed that several departments failed to show up during standard business hours.

The Block Agriculture Development Officer office sat empty. The PWD office in Lawbah remained locked. Staffing levels at the PWD Mawsynram sub-division were also thin. Residents are paying for these gaps. They waste time and gas only to find nobody there to help.

"The public suffers when government offices are unattended. Many people spend time and money travelling to these offices only to find them closed or understaffed," Snaitang said. The group demands the state fix these buildings immediately. They also warned that they will report the staff to higher authorities if attendance does not improve right away.
