Guwahati: Gautam Das died Monday night after his vehicle plunged into an excavated pit at the Century Ply industrial unit in Palashbari, Assam. The truck flipped over, trapping Das beneath the heavy wreckage. He died at the scene.
Das was working the night shift when the crash occurred. Reports suggest he was unaware that workers had dug a pit earlier that day. He drove directly into the hole. Local residents gathered at the factory gates following the death, creating a tense atmosphere.
Palashbari Police arrived to secure the site and launch an investigation. Officers are now checking why the area lacked warnings. They want to know if managers took basic safety steps after finishing the dig. As authorities look into the accident, they said: "Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses."
