Guwahati: Dhubri Municipal Board lodged a formal FIR at the Dhubri Police Station on August 29 after uncovering a fake trade license scheme. The fraud surfaced when inspectors examined the paperwork for a business called BOOMS BAR. They immediately noticed the document was a counterfeit. The license listed registration number DOHUA/202425/784391256 and claimed an impossible issuance date of April 17, 2025.
Executive Officer Kinshuk Raktim Kumar filed the complaint against Mohsin Ahmed, a Ward No. 9 resident. Officials believe Ahmed produced the forgery at his local computer center. Sahab Hussain, the In-Charge Tax Daroga, confronted the suspect at that shop. The man fled the scene during the interview. The bar owner told authorities they secured the license online and had no idea it was a fake.
Kinshuk Raktim Kumar believes this is not an isolated incident. He warned that the operation might involve a broader network of criminals. "The incident could indicate the presence of a larger network involved in fraudulent municipal trade licences in the region," Kumar said. Police are now tracking the operation. Municipal leaders want all business owners to verify their paperwork directly through the board to avoid future trouble.
