Guwahati: Police at Dhubri Sadar Station opened an investigation into four officials accused of looting government development cash. The FIR targets Majerchar Chalakura Gaon Panchayat president Samer Uddin Ahmed and secretary Jamir Uddin Kazi. Rashida Khatun, the vice-president, filed the complaint. She also named Jahangir Alam Ahmed and panchayat caretaker Ashir Uddin Sheikh in the report.
Khatun claims the group siphoned money meant for local infrastructure. They allegedly paid for work that never happened. One specific case involves a boundary wall at 024 LP School. Records show payment for a finished job, yet the wall sits half-built. Khatun says this pattern repeats across multiple projects. She noted, "payments were released for works that were either incomplete or had not been executed on the ground."
The trouble extends to the office itself. The site opened in 1992 but stays locked during business hours. Khatun claims the president and staff rarely show up, leaving residents without access to services. Locals previously sent complaints to the Dhubri District Commissioner, the Zilla Parishad CEO, and the Dharmasala Block Development Officer. They claim officials ignored them. That failure forced this police filing. Officers visited the site on Friday to start tracking the missing funds and auditing project records.
