Imphal: Civil society and Christian organizations in Churachandpur have issued strong condemnations following the discovery of six Naga hostages killed in a brutal manner. The victims, whose remains were recovered on June 10, 2026, included two pastors, prompting calls for an immediate end to the cycle of violence. The Churachandpur District Christians Goodwill Council, representing 31 denominations, expressed deep shock over the incident.

The Council stated, "It is heartbreaking to learn of the inhumane atrocities committed against them." They also noted their sorrow regarding the reported killing of two additional church leaders on June 11, 2026. The group is urging community leaders and stakeholders to prioritize restraint and reconciliation to foster harmony between the affected communities.

The Hmar Christian Leaders Forum expressed its indignation over the deaths of Pastors Kenpibou Chawang and Dr. Manu Thiumai. Describing them as dedicated servants of God, the Forum called on all Christian communities to unite against the violence. Citing biblical principles, they warned against harming religious figures and offered prayers to the grieving families.

The Zomi Students Federation General Headquarters also denounced the killings, labeling the use of force during periods of civil unrest as unacceptable. The student organization emphasized that religious leaders, women, and children should be spared from the ongoing conflict. They concluded by advocating for forgiveness, noting that it remains a fundamental tenet of their faith.
