Kohima: The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council is fuming. The organization expressed deep anger over the Election Commission of India scheduling the publication of draft electoral rolls for September 20, 2026. This date falls on a Sunday. Officials set the Special Intensive Revision for all four assembly constituencies in Phek District. They ignored the sanctity of the day.
The CBCC released a statement from its T. Chikri mission center in Pfutsero on September 19. It accused the ECI of orchestrating a conspiracy to deceive the local Christian community. They questioned why authorities refuse to respect religious freedom. The council stated: "It is disheartening for the government and its machineries to desecrate the Day of the Lord, which is hallowed by the Christian community, despite being fully aware of it."
The council also aimed its fire at local leaders. They called out the Government of Nagaland, various political parties, and Christian electoral officers. The CBCC blasted these bureaucrats for staying silent while external forces interfere with their faith. They vowed to protest any individual or organization that undermines the Church. The council will target anyone who threatens their religious practice with ulterior motives.
