Guwahati: Government Railway Police detained a man from Bihar on the night of July 20. Officers caught 49-year-old Satish Kumar at the New Bongaigaon Railway Station. A team led by Sub-Inspector Sanjib Choudhury conducted routine security checks when they spotted the suspect acting suspiciously. The man is from the Gopalganj district.

Police searched his trolley bag. They found a factory-made pistol and five rounds of 7.65 mm live ammunition. Kumar could not show a license or legal paperwork for the weapon. Officials seized the gun, the ammo, a mobile phone, his Aadhaar card, and a railway ticket.

Investigators are now working to track the origin of the weapon. They want to know if a larger operation is at play. The New Bongaigaon Railway Police stated, "Further investigation is underway to determine the intended destination of the firearm and whether any larger network is involved in the case." Legal proceedings against Kumar are currently moving forward.
