Guwahati: Dergaon traffic police officer Diganta Khataniar is out of a job. Authorities suspended him and placed him under reserve close after a video hit social media showing him allegedly taking a bribe to release a vehicle held at the local station. The clip captured the transaction taking place inside the Dergaon Police Station walls.

The footage spread fast online. Once the video surfaced, the Director General of Police stepped in. The DGP called the Golaghat Superintendent of Police directly to demand immediate action against the officer. The department is now launching a probe into the incident.
