Kohima: The Ao Senden has given NSCN (IM) leaders 15 days to retract disparaging comments made about former Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. SC Jamir. President Marsanen Imsong and General Secretary Imtipokyim issued the ultimatum following remarks made on September 16, 2026. VS Atem, Deputy Ato Kilonser, claimed Jamir was "not mandated and authorized people, just talking for the sake of barking." RH Raising, a steering committee member, added that Jamir lacked the right to speak on Naga issues.
Ao Senden leadership maintains that the Naga political process is not the private domain of any single faction. They insist that sovereignty remains the legitimate aspiration of all Naga people. The group warned of further action if the statements are not pulled.
Separately, the NSCN Provisional Government has formally rejected the 2020 Competencies document. Chairman Ikato K. Chishi Swu labeled the text an attempt to absorb Naga sovereignty into the Indian Constitution. This group formed on July 21, 2026, at Mt Horeb, following an emergency meeting of civil and military officials led by Lt. Gen. (Retd) HS Ramsan.
Swu accused the Hebron-based leadership of finalizing the document under pressure from New Delhi without consulting the Tatar Hoho. He specifically pointed to clauses in the Competencies that link the Naga election process to the Election Commission of India and require the Governor to administer oaths of office. The document also suggests incorporating the Naga Yehzabo into the Indian Constitution. Swu maintains these provisions betray the 2015 Framework Agreement and ignore the 2005 decision to keep Naga unification non-negotiable. He argued that the current leadership has failed to reject these terms.
