Shillong: Members of the Agitok clan dragged five social media users into a police investigation on Monday. General secretary Manseng A Sangma filed the FIR in Tura after users targeted the community with vulgar, sexually offensive material. They want justice. The complaint names Instagram accounts zixxit_837, rasmi_ch_sangma, sangma_walmitchi, and ama_weangchi, plus the Facebook account nikmeraraksam.
These accounts posted reels, songs, and status updates laced with obscene slang specifically designed to mock the clan. The FIR states: "The language and expressions used in the said reels, songs, and videos appear to have been deliberately used to insult, ridicule, and lower the dignity and reputation of the members of the Agitok clan before the general public."
Clan leaders fear the content creates deep resentment and could trigger public unrest. They asked police to move fast to lock down digital evidence before the posters can wipe their tracks. The association demands an investigation under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. They made their stance clear: "The Agitok Chra Association respectfully submits that freedom of expression cannot be used as a license to deliberately humiliate, abuse, and degrade an identifiable clan or community through vulgar and sexually offensive public content."
