Kohima: The Lotha Youth Hoho led a massive cleanup at Wokha Public Ground this past Friday. They scrubbed the site to push for better waste management. A crowd showed up to help. Volunteers included the Naga People’s Front Youth Wing, Team MLA 38 A/C Y M Humtsoe, the BJP Wokha unit, and the Lotha Students’ Union.
Residents from Niropen Colony and Wokha Village joined the effort. Natural Nagas, Tiyi Riders Wokha, the Nepali Baptist Church, the Wokha Town Council, and local police also pitched in. The drive cleared out piles of trash dumped in the public space. LYH Vice-President Benri Tsopoe kicked off the event.
LYH President Mharomo V Murry said the cleanup cleared the field for a penalty shootout tournament starting September 19 at 9 a.m. He warned that people are treating public land like a junkyard. Murry noted, "A clean environment contributes to better public health and civic responsibility."
The upcoming tournament carries a clear message. It runs under the theme, "Shoot Goals, Not Drugs," to fight back against drug abuse. Murry thanked everyone who helped out with labor or cash.
