VPP Demands CBI Probe Over Recruitment Fraud in West Jaintia Hills

Shillong: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) wants a CBI investigation into the District Selection Committee in West Jaintia Hills. VPP vice president Dr. Kara H. Shen filed a formal complaint with Chief Secretary Shakeel P. Ahammed on Monday. The party claims the recruitment process for Grade-IV and Lower Division-cum-Typist posts is rigged.

Examinations took place in September 2025, and results dropped on March 24, 2026. Shen claims the party holds documents proving widespread cheating. Some candidates passed despite answering only a few questions. The VPP wants these records locked down. They demand officials seal all OMR sheets and digital data immediately to stop anyone from destroying evidence.

The party insists the state stop all interviews and appointments right now. They want an outside agency to handle the probe. Shen emphasized the need for integrity in government hiring. "The sanctity of public recruitment is fundamental to fairness and merit. Any perception of manipulation in public appointments seriously erodes public confidence in government institutions," Shen stated.
