Agartala: Tripura officials are scouting the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre for a blueprint. They want their new Agartala site running by late September. The goal is simple: give local tea producers a transparent place to sell their crops. The delegation included Tripura Tea Development Corporation Chairman Samir Ranjan Ghosh and Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Das. Tea Board India Executive Director Arunita Phukan joined them for the tour. GTAC Secretary Priyanuz Dutta walked the group through the entire pipeline. He detailed the process from tea arrival and cataloging to final logistics and settlement.
The team saw how electronic bidding works. They learned how technology boosts efficiency and keeps the supply chain honest. These systems help growers get better prices and reach new markets. The delegation left with a clear plan to mirror several of the Guwahati operational practices in Agartala. Officials confirmed the new centre will streamline sales and sharpen Tripura's competitive edge in the national market. During the trip, the delegation emphasized the importance of this technical exchange. "The visit provided useful insights into how electronic auction systems can strengthen the tea supply chain, improve price realisation for growers and give producers access to wider markets," the Tripura team stated. The TTDC leadership thanked the Tea Board, the Guwahati centre, and the Assam Tea Association for their technical guidance.
