Toti Kivi Federation Hosts Annual Conference on Rural Women Empowerment

Kohima: The Toti Kivi Cluster Level Federation held its fourth annual conference at the Town Hall in Pughoboto on June 5. The event brought together village-level organizations, government officials, and community stakeholders to discuss the future of rural livelihoods and women-led development under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission.

Nagaland MLA Dr. Sukhato A. Sema attended as the special guest, challenging federation members to pursue excellence and compete for institutional awards. He stressed the importance of accountability, suggesting that groups should focus on regular inter-lending activities and meticulous record keeping. He specifically noted the potential for growth through federal support, stating, "He also urged members to avail themselves of government schemes such as the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) programmes and the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to expand livelihood opportunities and entrepreneurship in rural areas."

Pughoboto Additional Deputy Commissioner Meyazungba Jamir, serving as the guest of honour, called for increased innovation. He urged participants to build their professional capacity and adapt to shifting market demands by creating value-added products. Dr. Kanitoli, the Block Programme Manager for the Ghathashi Block, provided an overview of the mission's recent progress and future goals.

The conference concluded by recognizing the contributions of top-performing village organizations through awards. Attendees also enjoyed cultural performances from local groups, including folk songs by the Lopivi and Yevuqai VLOs. Organizers noted that the strong turnout underscored the expanding influence of community-based institutions operating within the state mission framework.
