Kohima: Tizit health officials and local leaders are rushing to contain a measles outbreak. The sub-division is now mobilising stakeholders to ramp up preventive measures across the area. Local authorities organised a sensitisation programme at the ADC Office to coordinate the response.
SDO (Civil) Tumpen P Tsanglao demanded action. He wants civil society and church leaders to push vaccine awareness through their existing networks. Dr Wungyong Konyak, the DPO RCH (UIP) for Mon, explained the mechanics of how antibodies develop. He told attendees that "the importance of administering recommended vaccines during the early stages of life" remains the primary defense against the disease.
WHO Surveillance Officer Dr M A H Azhar confirmed that the vaccination campaign kicks off on October 12. The effort covers every school and village within the Tizit sub-division. Government officials, colony chairmen, school heads, GBs, and church workers attended the planning meeting, according to the State DIPR.
