Three Notable Shillong Residents Pass Away Monday

Shillong: Three prominent Shillong residents died on Monday. The community is preparing for a series of final farewells throughout the week.

Dr. Shanta Nongpiur, a retired Joint Director and former Medical Superintendent of Ganesh Das Hospital, died Monday. She was the wife of the late Dr. KD Laloo. Family and friends will hold a service at 1 p.m. this Thursday at Lumkshaid in Lower Mawprem. The burial follows at the Laban Presbyterian Church cemetery in Lawsohtun.

Rapborlang Sylliang of Mawlai Iewrynghep also passed away Monday. He leaves behind his wife, Eborita Dhar. His funeral takes place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mawlai Nonglum Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Rajendro Rapsang died Monday as well. He lived at Ferndale Apartments on MG Road in Shillong and was the husband of Arzenia Ryntathiang. His family will lay his remains to rest at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jaiaw Presbyterian Church cemetery.
