Shillong: The Supreme Court revoked bail for Sonam Raghuvanshi on July 23. She stands accused of murdering her husband, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, during their 2025 honeymoon in Meghalaya. Justices M M Sundresh and P B Varale granted the Meghalaya government plea to overturn the previous bail order.
Sonam must surrender to police within three weeks. The court stated that if the trial fails to finish within six months, she can apply for bail again. Investigators claim Sonam conspired with hired killers to murder her husband for financial gain. The couple traveled to Sohra on May 23, 2025, and went missing shortly after.
Police found Raja's body in a deep gorge on June 2. Officers arrested the Indore, Madhya Pradesh resident in June 2025 along with her alleged accomplices. The court noted: "if the trial does not commence and conclude within six months, Sonam will be free to file a fresh bail application."
