South West Garo Hills hosts public service rights awareness camp

Shillong: Officials gathered at the Rerapara C&RD Block last Thursday. They held an awareness camp regarding the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020. The event aimed to sharpen the focus on government obligations. It highlighted the right of every citizen to receive notified services within set timeframes.

The Meghalaya State Public Services Delivery Commission in Shillong teamed up with the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills to lead the training. They wanted the public to know the rules. This collaboration forced a direct conversation between state workers and the people they serve.

Participants discussed how to hold the system accountable. They reviewed mechanisms to fix service delays or failures. The goal remains simple. The commission wants to ensure a "transparent, accountable and citizen-centric service delivery" throughout the district. Everyone left with a clearer understanding of their rights and official responsibilities.
