Shillong Youth Back Protest Demanding CEC Resignation

Bhakupar fears the state will use the UAPA to silence critics. He says questioning power is a duty, not treason. "This is extremely unfortunate for a democracy," Bhakupar stated. He warns that branding accountability seekers as anti-national hurts the country.

Mominul Haque sees a troubling pattern of state crackdowns. He points to the farmers' movement and Shaheen Bagh as examples of heavy-handed tactics. Haque argues that the Delhi security lockdown violates Article 19. He believes the CJP protest provides a sliver of hope that authorities can still face scrutiny.

John F. Marbaniang insists that dissent is a core right. He claims that choking off disagreement will only spark an uprising. Robertjune Kharjahrin, a former HYC leader, called the charges against the CEC serious. He says the government's attempt to silence the movement is unacceptable. Kharjahrin expects the CEC will soon have no choice but to resign.
