Shamator youth group wraps up ten-day town cleanup

Kohima: Youth from the Shamator Town Baptist Church finished a ten-day beautification drive on September 12, 2026. The project started on September 3. It focused on cleaning streets and improving the town look. They scrubbed roads and picked up trash throughout the area.

Volunteers spent the first phase painting Bible verses and quotes on walls around Shamator. These messages aimed to inspire locals. Youth Pastor Lato R. Yimchunger led the effort. He managed the work without initial funding. The church relied on faith and public support to get the job done.

Financial backing included a Rs.10,000 contribution from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Other unnamed individuals chipped in with various supplies. Yimchunger praised the donors for their help. He pushed the community to keep up the momentum for the good of the town.

The pastor made his position clear during the final event. "Our town, our responsibility," said Yimchunger. He also left a warning for those who do not help. "If you cannot participate, at least do not make the town dirty." The ministry hopes this work motivates other churches and organizations to protect their environment.
