Agartala: Tripura officials tapped former Ranji Trophy veteran Satrajit Lahiri to lead the state squad for the 2026-27 domestic cricket season. Lahiri takes control of training, player development, and match strategy starting immediately. He brings a deep background in the sport to the team.
The veteran played on the 1996-97 Deodhar Trophy-winning side before shifting his focus to coaching. He maintains high-level credentials, holding a Level C certificate from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a Level 3 qualification from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Lahiri has spent years working within the national system. He served as a faculty member for the BCCI coaches' education programme and managed national training camps for various age groups. He also acted as the coach in charge of the Indian University team. Regarding his new role, the state expects him to use this background to overhaul their first-class preparations.
