Kohima: The Rotary Club of Dimapur handed out baby care kits and food at the District Hospital on Monday. Ten Rotarians ran the event. It served 20 mothers, 10 children, and five newborns.
This initiative fell under the Women and Child Welfare Project. Club President Pradeep Goel and Project Chairman Akokla Lucy Pongen led the team. They centered the work on the theme, "Welcoming Every New Life with Care, Love, and Hope."
Rotary International marks July as Maternal and Child Health Month. The organization keeps a sharp focus on this field. Millions of children under five die each year from preventable causes. Many perish within their first month.
Rotary targets these numbers through immunizations, health education, and nutrition programs. The Dimapur club promised more community service in the future. They want to boost health and well-being for families across the region.
