Kohima: The Rengma Nthenyi Literature Board Chunlikha launched the Rengma Nthenyi Academy on August 25. The event took place at the NRCF Building in Chunlikha. Ar. Jwenga Seb, MLA and chairman of DPDB Tseminyu, attended as the special guest. He told the crowd, “others will know who you are through your language.”
Seb argued that mastering a native dialect builds a foundation for learning English, Hindi, and Nagamese. He compared the mother tongue to a large tree that provides shelter and fruit. The academy aims to help future generations read and write their own language. The Nthenyi dialect earned official recognition from the Government of Nagaland in 2017.
Dr. Shasinlo Magh chaired the event. Khinyi Woch, the RNLBC chairman, opened the ceremony by outlining the progress of the dialect. Rev. Tusaya Kath offered a dedicatory prayer. The Kithagha Union Baptist Church Youth Ministry Choir performed a song during the proceedings. Officials also launched the academy prospectus at the event.
Language Assistant Shelepfü Kath received a Proficiency Certificate. This award recognized his hard work on Nthenyi literature. The academy represents a major step forward for the community.
