Guwahati: A Muslim woman in Assam’s Cachar district recently embraced Sanatan Dharma. She underwent a conversion ceremony in Lakhipur. The event followed her marriage to a local Hindu man. The couple exchanged vows according to traditional Hindu rituals.

Organizers labeled the event a Ghar Wapsi ceremony. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal led the initiative. Several members of these groups attended the function. The organizations insist the woman made the change voluntarily. They claim she faced no outside pressure or inducement.
