Shillong: Bolmoram Adinggre village finally has power again. Residents of the East Garo Hills settlement lived without electricity for nearly four years after their distribution transformer died. The blackout hit about 40 families hard. They spent years relying on makeshift lights after dark.

The village falls under the Nongalbibra circle. A previous operator, FEDCO, ignored multiple requests to fix the equipment. The transformer remained broken despite repeated pleas for help. Daily life stalled. Students and elderly residents suffered through the long outage.

Relief arrived when SAI Computers Limited took over operations in the area. A company representative noted that a site survey identified the faulty infrastructure immediately. "The matter was brought to our attention by residents and immediately after receiving the request, the company conducted a site survey to assess the condition of the electrical infrastructure. A replacement transformer was arranged, and the necessary clearance of the HT feeder line was carried out to prepare the network for restoration," the representative said.

Workers cleared the HT feeder line and set up a new transformer. The grid went live on June 19. Families are breathing a sigh of relief. One resident remarked, "We can finally return to normal life after suffering for almost four years without electricity." The restoration marks a major shift for the community.
