Police Seize 44 Cattle and Arrest Smuggling Suspects in Morigaon

Guwahati: Mikirbheta Police busted a cattle smuggling ring in Assam’s Morigaon district. Officers intercepted four vehicles at Kalikajari after receiving a tip-off. They recovered 44 head of cattle during the raid. The vehicles involved bear registration numbers AS 12 CC 3029, AS 01 SC 5595, AS 02 DC 9729, and AS 02 EC 1343.

Police took six suspects into custody. The individuals named in the report are Firkul Islam, Sufikul Islam, Sadikul, Ubaidulla, Insan Ali, Mofikul Alam, and Hasen Ali. The official report noted the discrepancy, stating, "six persons were arrested while seven names are listed."

Authorities impounded the rescued animals. Investigators are now tracking the smuggling network and the intended destination of the livestock. This operation marks an uptick in local police efforts to shut down illegal cattle transit across the region.
