Police find unidentified body near Dimapur railway tracks

Kohima: Police discovered the body of an unidentified man near the railway tracks in Dimapur on August 29. The man appeared to be between 40 and 45 years old. A memo from the Dimapur Railway Station Master alerted officers to the scene at 1.05 am. They found the body lying between KM 260/5 toward the Khatkhati side.

Officers rushed to the tracks. They conducted an inquest on the remains. Police suspect the man died after being run over by a moving train. "The cause of death was suspected to be the man being run over by a moving train, police said."

The team shifted the body to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue. Doctors will perform a post-mortem examination there. Authorities are now working to confirm his identity.
