Police Await Forensic Results After Shillong Community Dog Found Dead

Shillong: Investigators are waiting on lab results. Police finished a post-mortem on a community dog found dead inside the Shillong Circuit House compound on June 25. Officers from the Kench’s Trace Beat House and the Shillong Municipal Board recovered the animal, moving it to the Veterinary Hospital for examination the following day.

Witness Josephine Hujon attended the procedure. The medical report is already in police hands. Now, authorities are sending forensic samples to a laboratory to check for toxins or foul play. Volunteers and officials buried the remains after the vet finished the work. Buddha Dey handled the burial with help from the municipal board.

The department expects the forensic report to land next week. It should solve the mystery. Supporters praised the fast response of the local police. As one participant noted, the team showed "prompt action taken by the police and other departments in facilitating the investigation."
