Police and Reporters Feed Stranded Truckers on Assam Highway

Guwahati: Ghumra Police and local journalists teamed up to deliver cooked food and bottled water to hundreds of stranded truck drivers. The crews hit National Highway-6 after a damaged bridge forced a complete stop to all traffic. Drivers have been stuck for days between Ghumra and Malidahar in the Cachar district.

The broken Ghumra Bridge halted the flow of goods-laden trucks, leaving operators without basic supplies. The police and media joined forces to provide relief and help the hungry men. This move earned praise from locals who watched the group offer support during the mess.

"The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents, who praised the police and journalists for standing by the stranded truckers and demonstrating compassion during a difficult time." The long delay caused an acute shortage of water and meals along the highway route. Relief efforts continue as the bridge remains out of commission.
