Imphal: Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate led a delegation of civil society leaders to meet Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in Imphal. The group represents Pherzawl and Jiribam districts. They arrived to push for infrastructure improvements and address administrative gridlock. The team also visited Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Lok Bhavan to submit a memorandum regarding these regional concerns.

The delegation wants the Jiribam-Tipaimukh road upgraded to a National Highway. This status would link NH-37 and NH-102. It would boost connectivity between Jiribam, Tipaimukh, and surrounding areas. They also demanded new power lines from Sipuikaun Power Station to Parbung. Electricity needs to reach more remote villages through expanded transmission lines. Residents suffer without basic financial access. The group demanded that the state establish a functional bank in the region.

Political organization remains a priority. The team addressed the establishment of the Pherzawl Autonomous District Council. A Hill Areas Committee report currently suggests 15 constituencies for this body as part of the state's broader delimitation process. Pherzawl, carved from Churachandpur in 2016, holds 53 villages across the Tipaimukh and Thanlon constituencies. It serves a diverse population of Hmar, Kuki, Paite, Simte, Gangte, Zou, and Vaiphei tribes.

Chief Minister Singh promised to review the requests. He emphasized that local progress relies on stability. He said, "restoration of peace and stability should remain the priority" for taking forward development and administrative processes. The government pointed to an April peace initiative in Jiribam involving Meitei and Hmar leaders as a success for regional harmony.

The delegation included ITAC Pherzawl and Jiribam secretary Hrlihmingthang Buhril. Hmar Inpui Hmarram Region president Upa Ramdinglien and secretary Zaihmingthang joined him. Hmar Inpui Vangai Region president Rothangkhum also attended the meetings.
