Kohima: Farmers in the Razeba range face a deepening cabbage marketing crisis. Officials met on July 24 at Zhaveme village in Phek district to secure immediate procurement and sales channels. They want to connect growers with buyers. The meeting brought together government departments, private sector partners, and local village institutions to fix the broken supply chain.
District Horticulture Officer Kelhouzakie Chielie and Extra Assistant Commissioner Kentsinle Tep represented the government. They sat down with Nature Fuel India founder Nukuzo Phesao and Gujarat-based Sathwaro Farming representatives Bhavesh P. Bumtariya and Mukundray P. Bumtariya. Village Development Board secretaries, head gaon burahs, and village council members also attended the session.
Participants hailed the coordination as a vital shift. They claimed the meeting was a "significant step towards operationalising partnerships at the grassroots level" to bolster marketing for cabbage growers. The group aims to provide timely support to farmers currently struggling with the disruption.
