Kohima: Officials and local leaders gathered in Zhaveme village on July 24 to stop a cabbage marketing crisis. Farmers across the Razeba range in Phek district need help selling their crops. The current market disruption has left growers scrambling for buyers.
The meeting focused on setting up immediate procurement and marketing links. Partners from the government and private sector discussed ways to get produce out of the fields. They want to strengthen local partnerships to support struggling farmers. Participants described the session as a significant step towards operationalising partnerships at the grassroots level.
District Horticulture Officer for Phek Kelhouzakie Chielie and Razeba Extra Assistant Commissioner Kentsinle Tep attended the talks. Nature Fuel India founder Nukuzo Phesao also joined the discussion. Representatives from Sathwaro Farming, based in Gujarat, included Bhavesh P. Bumtariya and Mukundray P. Bumtariya. Local support came from the Village Development Board secretary, head gaon burahs, and various village council members.
