Guwahati: A passenger bus hit two motorcycles on National Highway-27 in Pathsala on Wednesday. The crash left two riders injured. The bus driver fled the scene. Commuters say the driver was traveling from Guwahati toward Pathsala before the collision.

Local frustration is boiling over. Residents argue that reckless driving, including sudden lane changes and excessive speed, creates a lethal environment. Schools, markets, and hospitals cluster along this stretch of the highway. Students and pedestrians now face constant danger.

The lack of service roads makes the situation worse. Local sources confirm that commuters are fed up with unsafe practices. "Residents have raised concerns over speeding, sudden overtaking, abrupt lane changes and other unsafe driving practices, saying these could increase the risk of accidents."

The public wants action. They are calling on traffic police and transport authorities to ramp up patrols and enforce speed limits near high-traffic zones. They need tighter oversight to curb dangerous behavior from bus operators before more lives are lost.
