Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway now boasts the highest solar power capacity in the Indian Railways network. The zone hit a total of 42 MWp. Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer, confirmed the numbers in Guwahati.

This is a big win. The agency pushed for renewable growth over the last three years to slash electricity bills. They bolted solar panels onto more than 200 major railway stations. These panels keep the lights on and the costs down.

The move saved the railway 13 crore rupees in just two years. Sharma explained that the organization is not stopping there. He stated, "work is currently underway to increase the solar generation capacity by an additional 9 MWp." This expansion will further lock in the zone's renewable energy infrastructure.
