Kohima: Noklak held its inaugural special programme for senior citizens on September 16. The Shekinah Christian Foundation hosted the event at the Noklak Town Baptist Church alongside the Social Welfare Department of Nagaland. Muthiam from the foundation chaired the gathering.
EAC Headquarters Apuloka Yepthomi represented the District Administration. He noted that while many people hope to grow old, only a select few reach that milestone. He urged the youth to show respect and provide healthy care for the elderly. "Many people wish to live a long life, but only a few are blessed to reach the stage of senior citizenship," Yepthomi said.
Col. Ghanender Pratap Singh, Commandant of the 32 Assam Rifles, spoke to the crowd about their lasting impact. He argued that the work of elders helps the nation and the world. Meanwhile, CMO Dr. Victor encouraged the attendees to keep up healthy habits to ensure a better quality of life.
The day included a walkathon starting at the Public Ground and ending at the church. Participants took part in games run by Atula Thsanso. The 32 Assam Rifles also operated a free medical camp to provide health checks for the participants throughout the day.
