New Rajya Sabha MP James Sangma Vows to Push Meghalaya Needs in Parliament

Shillong: James Sangma pledged to work alongside the state government following his election as the new Rajya Sabha MP for Meghalaya. He aims to ensure regional priorities gain traction in New Delhi. The mandate covers the needs of the entire Northeast region. Leaders from the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 2.0 gathered to honor him during a formal session.

Sangma addressed the assembly with a clear mission. "Meghalaya aro salgro salaram jolni nanganirangko Rajya Sabha-o bilake ku·rang on·na gita anga a·dok sorkari baksa nangrime kamko ka·na ku·rachakenga," he said. He thanked all coalition partners for their support during the selection process.

Key political figures attended the event. BJP MLAs AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai were present, alongside UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh and Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma. The coalition remains focused on unity.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized that these meetings strengthen the alliance. He expects the new MP to hold the floor firmly for state interests. While acknowledging that no single government solves every problem overnight, the Chief Minister claimed the current administration is finally finishing long-pending projects. The government intends to push hard for development across the state.
