Guwahati: Nagaon District Transport Department officials moved fast on July 23. They pulled over two overloaded dumpers hauling stone from the Nagaon-Karbi Anglong border. The heavy trucks were hauling material well beyond legal limits. Officials launched the operation early in the morning to stop illegal transport.

Locals say these trucks swarm the roads daily. They wreck public infrastructure and put everyone at risk. The department plans to keep up the heat. "Necessary legal action has been initiated against the seized vehicles," officials stated after the raid.

The crackdown reached beyond heavy machinery. Transport authorities are also targeting battery-operated three-wheelers inside the Nagaon Municipal Corporation zone. These units face scrutiny for failing to follow registration and operational rules. The department promised more enforcement work soon to enforce the law and clean up the roads.
