Kohima: Advisor for Airways and Railways A Pongshi Phom visited the Dimapur Railway Station and Dimapur Airport on Monday. He wanted to check construction progress and sort out stalled development projects. At the railway station, Phom held a review meeting focused on the proposed Modern Railway Station under Phase-I. The session included Additional Secretary of the A.I.R. Cell Thsuvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, OSD M. Ababe Ezung, and local rail officials.
The advisor then shifted focus to Dimapur Airport. He sat down with Airports Authority of India officials, including Airport Director Moa Pongen. They tackled land acquisition, waterlogging, garbage disposal, and runway upgrades. The current infrastructure status remains limited for the state. Phom insisted that the government and AAI must fix these issues quickly. He stated, "The purpose of the visit was to understand ground-level challenges, gather suggestions from stakeholders, and identify practical solutions."
Moa Pongen detailed the airport history and asked for continued help with land hurdles. The teams discussed ways to improve coordination and clear existing roadblocks. Phom promised to push these concerns to higher authorities for immediate action.
