Kohima: Khar police arrested 36-year-old Faiz Irfan Adenwala on Friday for allegedly submitting a forged Police Clearance Certificate. Adenwala used the falsified document as part of an attempt to renew a firearm license originally granted by the Nagaland government.

Authorities discovered the forgery while reviewing his renewal application. Investigators also noted that Adenwala failed to register his weapon with the Mumbai Police Commissionerate, a mandatory requirement for all licensed gun owners.

Police have filed a formal report under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for the possession and use of forged documents, alongside additional charges under the Arms Act. Officers are now working to determine the origin of the fake certificate and whether a wider network is operating to facilitate fraudulent license renewals.
